I was so sorry to hear the news of Peter’s passing. Peter was a special man and I have so many memories of our days soldiering in the trenches together in ICS / BOI. He was always witty, sociable and hard working. He was a great lateral thinker and had the easy gift of being able to command a gathering simply through his presence and engaging personality. I can still see his mischievous smile.
He will be missed.

To: Julie, David & Ruth

I was so saddened to hear of Peter's death.

Peter was a remarkable man, with strong business acumen.

During his time with ICS, he hosted a number of trips abroad, which
so many of us remember with huge fondness.

He had a super sense of humour, and was great fun to be with.

Peter's genuine love for the people he worked with, garnered him the respect he so richly deserved.

He will be forever remembered in my prayers.

Thinking of you all, at this most sad time.

Paul & Jean Kinane (Malahide).
To Julie, David and Ruth, please accept my condolences on the passing of Peter. I am so grateful that I knew the unique character that was Gilly. On our many golf trips with the group, his humour was always outstanding and his addresses to his waiting audience, perfectly nuanced.
I had the immense privilege of working with Peter in Computershare where we probably spent more time laughing than working. He was a man of great wit and made work a very easy place to be. We formed a great friendship, which continued beyond his retirement from Computershare, and he was always so kind to me when my own father became ill - a kindness which will never be forgotten. I shall greatly miss Peter (and his wonderful hats) and send my heartfelt condolences to Julie, David and Ruth and all of Peter’s family. May he rest in peace.
Julie, David, Ruth and the wider Gilligan family, we are so truly sorry to hear of the loss of Peter. While we did not know him very well, you could instantly tell he was a smart, kind, generous and well loved man, especially by each of you, which only makes his passing all the harder to bear. You are all in our thoughts and prayers and we are sending you love and strength during these difficult days. Rest in peace, Peter. In deepest sympathy and with much love, Matt, Jen, Cecilia & Daphne xx

Peter was my boss during my years working in ICS. He was the most intelligent witty and kind man. Our trips abroad were so special especially when Peter got up to do the obligatory presentation which were totally unique to Peter. A truly special man who has left so many wonderful memories with anyone who was lucky enough to have known him.

I wish to offer my sincerest condolences to Peter's widow and family on his passing.
We first met when he arrived in Clongowes and immediately established a bond through our shared interest in tennis. which was not granted a priority by the school at that time. Subsequently, we encountered each other at the various class reunions and I always admired his organisational flair in arranging these. He was a thoroughly nice man.
May he rest in peace.
On behalf of Woodbrook Golf Club, our Management Council, Officers, Committees, Staff, and members, we wish to express our deepest sympathy to Peter’s wife, Julie, his children, David and Ruth and their extended families at this difficult time.

We were very saddened to hear of the passing of Peter. As your neighbour on Glenart Avenue for 26 years, we got to know you all very well. Peter was such a likeable guy and good fun having met him first when both of us were working for SKC accountants in 1976.

Fond memories of our time in ICS where work and humour combined for some unforgettable experiences.

May Peter rest in peace.
I have read of Peter’s death with great sadness. The twenty years I spent as Parish Secretary in Booterstown Parish coincided with Peter’s commitment to the local Conference of St. Vincent de Paul. He was a truly Christian person and a man of deep faith. His presence in the parish (and his smart array of hats) will be greatly missed. I extend my sincere sympathy to Julie, David, Ruth, and to all the family on your loss of a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Rest in Peace Peter.
