Absolutely in shock, just saw Gabriel's Rip notice.My heart goes out to Gerry. What a fabulous true lady. I'm devastated. Before I moved down to live in Laois, Gabriel and Gerry were our rock when we lived in Dublin. You'll never every be forgotten in our lives, may you rest in peace Gabriel. Our condolences to her wonderful husband Gerry and extended families.

Our deepest sympathy to you Gerry and all of Gabriel's extended friends and family. We had some truly lovely times with you both and Gabriel's generosity and kindness knew no bounds. She was exceptionally thoughtful and kind to us, especially Lana who was most upset to hear of her passing.

Very sincere condolences on the death of Gabriel. She was one of the first people I knew when I joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1977 - we shared an office. She was unfailingly helpful, kind, efficient and good humoured and continued to show those qualities throughout her career. She is warmly remembered by me, by my wife Mary and by whole generations of colleagues.

My last memory of Gabriel, on New Year’s eve 2019, is one which epitomizes the Gabriel we all knew: charming, generous, gregarious, and most of all caring. The next days, weeks, months and years will be challenging, but please know that we are here for you.

We have made a donation to the ISPCA in Gabriel’s name in the belief that by her passing she has given a chance of living to another and, through that, her spirit will live on.

I was greatly saddened to learn Gabriel is no longer with us. As Minister For Development 1995 to 1997, Gabriel was a tower of strength to me and an outstanding private Secretary to me. Whether it was in Iveagh House, or the UN in New York, or Rwanda in the aftermath of the genocide, Gabriel was calm, helpful and professional. She was a trailblazer for women at a time when there few women private secretaries to ministers. I will mourn her along with Gerry, her family and friends, but proud and grateful for all she contributed.

It is difficult to add to the many positive things that have already been said about Gabriel. She was a good friend to so many who worked with her in the Department of Foreign Affairs. She was also a fine civil servant who came into her own when serving in Ministerial Offices and, most particularly, as Ministerial Private Secretary, where her keen political sense and sound judgement helped smooth the interface between between politics and administration. My deepest condolences to Gerry and Gabriel's family on their sad loss.

I first met Gabrial and her family when she moved to Clonmel from Mayo. Then we were together in Foreign Affairs . Gabriel was exceptional in her intelligence, good humour and excellent judgement . I am so very sorry to hear of her untimely death . May she rest in peace and may there be comfort for her family in knowing how very much her loss is felt
