Without doubt, one of the most gentle and conscientious person I have met. A huge loss to his family, community and world at large. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to know you Gabriel. RIP

I had the pleasure of knowing Gabriel during his time in DCU and he was such a lovely man. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time.

I was absolutely shocked when Gareth told me the sad news. My condolences to the Flynns, my Irish family in my heart since 1986.

Gabriel was a wonderful classmate and friend in the Belvedere class of ‘83. I am so glad that we stayed in touch and that I got to see him in person at our recent reunion. I am thinking of his whole family at this time. A great man, gone too soon.

I first met Gabriel when I worked in Conduit, he managed the Bord Gais call centre, he was a gentleman and always so kind, clever and good fun. He was very popular amongst his co workers. I got to know his wife Helena when doing dancing together, and had the pleasure of getting to know his beautiful children Sophie, Hannah and Jonathan too. So sorry to hear of Gabriel’s passing. We started school together in Belvedere as 9-year olds and that connection remained for over 50 years. We had a great chat at our recent 40th reunion - we spoke a little about the fun and friendship we enjoyed during our schooldays but a lot about family - he was very proud of you all. Rest in peace, Gabriel.

Sincere condolences. So sorry to hear of Gabriel's passing. I grew up in Phibsborough too and always had a great laugh with Gabriel "never" growing up in Belvedere.

Sincere sympathies to Gabriel’s family on his passing. I spent 10 years with Gabriel in Belvedere & have such fantastic memories of our time there. From an angelic photo of Gabriel & 3 more of us making the newspaper when we made our confirmation to a being a member of a line up to receive a “biffing” from an irate J whereupon Gabriel’s quick withdrawal of his hand meant the J in question received one of the best to his own anatomy had us in tears of laughter. Gabriel was such great company at our 40th year out celebrations & also at a brief subsequent meeting as he headed to play football with his dog early on a Sunday morning. I unfortunately can’t be there to say safe journey to him but will certainly be thinking of you when you do. RIP Gabriel.

Gabriel and I were in Belvedere together for 10 years. I lived in Phibsborough and Gabriel and I often headed off on our bikes after school when we should have been doing our homework !

Gabriel was an intelligent and fun guy in school who got up to his fair share of mischief. He was extremely popular.

News of Gabriel’s death drew multiple comments of sadness and recollections of Gabriel on our year’s WhatsApp group which Gabriel was in.

The time of year may prevent many of Gabriel’s classmates from attending the mass but I would like his family to know how kindly people felt about Gabriel and how saddened we all were on hearing the news.

To Gabriel’s children, his mum and extended family, my sincere condolences to you all at this very sad time.

I remember visiting Cabra Park after school when we were kids and heading off on our bikes when we should have been doing our “ecker”. Gabriel was bright and extremely popular in school and news of his death spread quickly on our 1983 WhatsApp group which Gabriel had joined. The news caused a slew of expressions of sadness at the news and tributes to “Flynner’s” good nature, sense of humour and intelligence. Gabriel came to our 40th reunion and was surrounded by guys he hadn’t seen for a while and he was engrossed in conversation all evening.

I wish you all peace and consolation at this terrible time.
