Irene died shortly before my mum, Joan, and in the subsequent years Gay and Derek joined us for great holidays in Donegal. Saddened to hear the news about Gay’s death. My deepest sympathy to John, Alan, Fr Der and Fr Joe. The Moloney and Walsh families go back such a long time and Gay often featured in the wealth of stories from my Dad of the early days in Tuam. Thinking of Irene too at this time. Gay & Irene were both dear friends of my parents Gay & Maura over the years, and I have many fond memories of them from swimming events, plays (especially the Tom Murphy first-nights) and parties.
