Really sorry to hear of Gabriel's passing. We always enjoyed a good chat and a good laugh when we'd meet up regularly in the Clybaun Hotel gym. Gabriel had a vast knowledge of GAA matters, but absolutely no ego and rarely mentioned his own achievements in team management. He was hugely popular with the regulars at NRG and will be sorely missed.

Very sorry for your loss. Gay was such a warm and friendly person every time we met him and wishing you all strength during this sad time.

Sandra, Shane and Paola it was with great sadness that I heard of Gays passing. I have some great memories of our times in Ballyboden St Enda's both on and off the pitch. One in particular was his performance in the 1990 Vincent De Paul Cup final win in Parnell Park when Gay received the man of the match award. He gave his all both on and off the pitch and it was a privilege to have known him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

He was one of the first people I told I was pregnant in ‘22 as he kept trying to get me back on the pitch !! He then gave me a hug and congratulated me loudly enough for everyone in Mervue and surrounding areas to hear!

I’ll always remember his joy in telling me he was awaiting the birth of his first grandchild. May his gentle soul rest in peace x

Just learned the very sad news of Gay’s demise. Gone before his time. Deepest sympathies to all those who mourn him, particularly his brothers John and Paul and his wife, Sandra and family. I want to thank Gay for his time with Barna GAA Men's Intermediate team when through his management we finally made the breakthrough in 1998 to get up to Senior football. Many great memories of training sessions, bonding trips away and Gays sharp wit and calmness will always remain with us.

I had the privilege of being coached by him with the Galway ladies, and to this day he is still one of the kindest managers I've ever played under. I’ll always remember the warmth he brought with him everywhere he went - always in good form, always with a smile, and always making time for everyone around him. Gay was approachable, considerate, and genuinely good-hearted, the type of person no one ever had a bad word to say about.
