Very sad to hear of Gabriel's death, it's been a long time since he taught me in Shraheen N.S. but I still remember his classes with fondness and he would always have time for a chat whenever our paths crossed.

Deepest heartfelt sympathies to Finola and Gabriel's loving family. I was genuinely gutted to hear of the suden untimely death of Gabriel. I was fortunate enough to befriend Gabriel in St. Nathy's Secondary School and we moved from there to St. Pat's Training College where we shared 3 fantastic years of fun and laughter. From our Nathy's days, we were known as N.D.S. and it's hard to believe that one of that 'elite' group has departed this world to gain everlasting happiness in heaven. Whenever I think of Gabriel, I can still visualise his ability to pull many faces and his very distinctive wolf whistle. Gabriel was a true friend to many which makes his death all the more difficult to comprehend. Even though I may have had different religious views to Gabriel, I always admired his tenacity in discussions to uphold his Catholic Beliefs and faith. I also admired how he remained a life long member of the Pioneer Abstinence Association and I have no doubt that Gabriel's jovial personality and his love of family coupled with his sense of community influenced many generations of people. May his gentle soul rest in peace..

I send my deepest condolences to Gabiel's family. I enjoyed wonderful days of companionship, fun and laughter in his company in St. Patrick's Training College Dublin 1973-75 and again in 1978 when we were part of the Irish Teachers' 6 week trip to Wilkes-barre, Pennsylvania at Kings College. I recall vividly Gabriel shaking hands with the late Senator Ted Kennedy on the steps of The Capitol ,Washington DC. Gabriel was a gentleman and a scholar.

As I watched the mass today I was reminded of the many happy times we shared including trips to America and France. I had my last communication from Gabriel at Christmas and was shocked to hear of his death. He was a great family man and very kind to everyone. You always left him with a smile on your face.
