Deepest sympathy to all of Gai's family....Such a kind, gentle, natural human being, she inspired us in so many ways from the appreciation of art in all its forms ( in my case a lasting love of Harry Clark's stain glass windows with whom I always associate Gai Morrissey), the beauty of nature and an appreciation for life itself. . .When my school days were over she was always a pleasure to meet on the street or in the shops and with a lovely smile she would have the chat about cats and gardens and everyday life. Such a sweetheart. . Rest in peace Gai.

So sorry to hear of Gai's passing. She was on the first committee of Waterford Co Museum which celebrated its 40th anniversary on the day she died. She also taught art in the CBS Dungarvan, and for me it was the only highlight in that otherwise depressing period. Gai was later joined by her sister Kathleen at the home in Ballinroad and both were enthusiastic participants in museum outings and other events.

Sincere condolences to all the family and friends of Mrs Morrissey. Such a kind and gentle lady with such a lovely nature. She didn't have the heart to tell me that art probably wasn't for me so said very discreetly when making our subject choices "have you any ear for music" to which I replied yes I'm picking music and that I know art is probably not my fortè. She told me probably for the best and to go and make art in my music.

So saddened to hear of Mrs Gabrielle Morrissey , a Lady ,who was my Teacher and my daughter's teacher also . We all had d same experience , of her absolute decency , in the classroom and outside it. Lovly experiences for all of us , but such decency was very rare ,,,,,,,Mrs Morrissey should have rec twice her salery and triple HER pension ,in comparison to Teachers . ,,,,,,Who were so so unfit for a salery ,even a v small one. Rip to a lovely lady who inspired many of her pupils through art. I have very fond memories of her in the Ard Scoil . Gai was a very active member of the Dungarvan branch of the Association of Secondary Teachers Ireland (ASTI). Gai fought for her principles in her own quiet way.
