Gail Dowling

Because I now live abroad, it was only yesterday that I was told about Gail's sudden passing. The initial cloud of sadness has now allowed some of the hilarious memories I have, of time spent with this funny lady to emerge. As a young mother, juggling work and family life in Cork's creative space, Gail was so generous in her support and advice, always assuring me that it was all doable and survivable. Sincerest sympathies to Frank and her 2 sets of twins. May her bright light continue to shine forever more. Sylvia

Frank and family, I just learned today with shock of Gail’s passing. I have so many happy memories of her. We worked on so many housing brochures together over many years and we often compared family stories as we both had very similar Ross’s. She had a fabulous sense of humour, was extremely creative and had an amazing way about her. She will be sadly missed by many. My sincere sympathies to you all and may Gail rest in peace.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Gail’s passing. She was a wonderful woman with a fantastic spirit. I remember meeting Gail for the first time over 10 years ago. She was one of the first drivers to volunteer to drive patients to their cancer treatments in the Cork hospitals. I remember her passion and willingness to help. During her 10 years of volunteering with the service, she was a dedicated, kind and passionate supporter and her commitment to helping patients touched many lives.

On behalf of the entire team, I want to extend our heartfelt condolences to her family at this incredibly difficult time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Gail in Mitchelstown during DIY-SOS. She was a really lovely person who will be missed by all who knew her, especially her family and friends. May she RIP.

With deep sadness we learned of Gail’s untimely passing. So many wonderful memories of Gail as a young enthusistic Arts student in the early 1970’s. Her creative input into my three stage productions was outstanding to say the least: ‘The Children of Lir’ (1973), ‘Perseus’ (1974) and ‘Maiden of Sorrow’ (1975). She was in essence the overall Artistic Director of these productions. Her ideas for posters, flyers, programmes, stage and costume design were so innovative and always executed without any fuss or hype. We were fortunate to have had the combined creative energy of Gail and Frank for the imaginative sleeve design of our much sought after original vinyl album (LP) ‘The Children of Lir’.
