Garda Sergeant Paul Keegan

I have just heard your very sad news. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have known Paul for as long as I did. He was everybody's great friend. Everyone was in awe of how he fought this horrible, horrible thing for so long with such courage and dignity.

From all the way over here in Kazakhstan, Mary, Íarfhlaith and I send our love and wishes to you and your family.

I get to say Paul Keegan was my friend. That's an honour I will carry forever.

I was very saddened to hear of Paul's passing [which came much to soon in his life] and look back on the many many fond memories provided by Paul to his former colleagues at Harcourt Terrace Garda Station.

Paul was a pure gentleman who brightened up every body's day with a smile, funny comment or personal interaction. Always the professional, he was a brilliant police man and took great pride in his work in serving the community. It was a great pleasure and honour to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from one of the best.

I am so sorry to hear about Paul's passing. He was an important part of my childhood, and I will always treasure the memories we shared together. He taught me how to tie knots, carve wood in grandads garage, led our explorations of the attic in DPR and adventures along the river Dodder with Granny and the Keegan cousins. I remember playing ‘cops and robbers’ with him, where he was always the cop and always caught the bad guy. I remember the rascal that Paul was, the laughter and good natured fun. He was the coolest cousin, who was always the source of a good joke and multiple wisecracks at the parties and festivities in Carriglea.
