r i p a good man gone to rest
I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the Fitzgerald family on the passing of Garret.
I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank him and all of you for the wonderful contribution he made to Irish public and political life. A man of substance, of impeccable character, sharp wit and keen intellect and an engaging and approachable manner.
A man with a clear vision of what Ireland could be and how we could be with each other and with our nearest and more distant European neighbours. A bright light in a very dark period in our countries history, a true Irishman in the very best sense of the term and an Irishman that will go down as one of the most substantive and leading figures in the history of this state.
Thank you Garret for your contribution.

A true statesman and a national treasure. May he rest in peace.
Garret (R.I.P.) a genuine Irish Republican patriot, imbued with integrity, compassion, intelligence, understanding and a pacifist. Like Mahatma (Great Soul) Gandi, Garret had a Great Soul and sought to educate and change the heart of the opponent.

As a youngster in the early 80's, I knew he was a good guy - without him, I fear I would have little interest in politics. I feel so sad at his passing. What a great State this would be if there were more like him.
To a great statesman and gentlemen!
Thanks.
Great to see we still have a few good men!
