Very sorry to hear this sad news. We played football together many years ago during the long summer evenings on Cushendaĺl beach. Gary played quietly and skillfully, he was the easily the best, he made it look easy. And we would sing songs by Don McLean and others, all without a care in the world. We met up again in Rosario Belfàst many years later. My deepest condolences to the whole McGrath family and wider family circle at this sad time. A great loss.
— Terry Boyle

What is a life? Maybe a series of iconic images and thoughts. The folk-rock sessions in "the grapplers" with Owen L and Riona B and Kev on strat, yes that dunes leap, that C&W party and that straw hat, Chiswick, Cookies Kings Lynn, the "eternal" shorts, that wicked humour and charm, a wonderful family and friends.. that's a full life - even if it ended too early. Rest in Peace dear Garry McGrath. It was fate that brought us together on that day when Bob Gross and myself were lost on the streets of Belfast trying to find our way to the BBC. You made sure we got there on time and did our interview and the rest of our friendship over the last 20 years is history. You and Lisa even came to my home and stayed with me on your adventure across California!
I am so thankful for you and the family, taking me in and treating me as if I was another family member. Rest easy my brother. You made so many people smile. We will see you on the other side. Put in a good word for me!
All my love and admiration,
Shawn
