Sincere condolences to the Blount family at this time. Gary was always the ref that, as a young player and then as a coach, made you smile when you saw him on the court. Not only did he ref the games he also coached along the way, by explaining his reasons for calling the foul etc. He used to offer us 10points should we get the ball off him, and up his hand stretched well above his head, no fear of anyone getting the ball from him - so he always held onto those 10points. A lovely man, he will be missed, he was actually the ref of the last game I went to watch, my sister's U14 match in the Colaiste. May Gary rest in peace.
