Gary Costelloe

Sincere condolences to Ann and to all the Costelloe and Faherty families. We were shocked to hear of Gary's sudden passing. Gary provided superb hospitality and service. We always enjoyed our trips and his wit often softened the fishless days, as well as odd day the trout obliged, they were all good days, memories we'll cherish.

I have such fond memories of Gary from the early 80’s in Thomastown- our little group, the madcap adventures and lots of laughter. He was always so bright and quick witted, and such great company. May he rest in peace.

The first time I met Gary was at John Costelloe's funeral, and after offering my condolences, Gary's response was "Rock n' Roll!" It was my first introduction to his wicked sense of humour. 19 year old me didn't quite know how to respond.

Every encounter after that was always welcoming and accompanied by jokes and his sharp wit.

I always looked forward to the 'Gary Stories' that Evan would tell me. He truly led an amazing life and he'll be greatly missed. I count myself lucky to have known him.

It was a huge shock to hear of Gary's untimely passing. Great memories, great man. Provided superb hospitality and his humour and one liners will always be remembered. A tremendous loss and trips to The Corrib will never be the same again. I still think so often about your month down here in Australia with us in for Christmas and New year in 24/25 with Annie and joined by all your family.

I have so many great memories of your visit but more than anything else I remember every morning the first thing you’d do after getting up is come and search for me in the apartment and when you found me for some mad reason you’d just shout out ‘Stephen’ and then walk away…it made me LOL every day and I’m smiling right now Gary, thinking about it!!
