Im still in total shock at the passing of Gary at such a young age , soooo many memories growing up in Lucan with him, hard to believe I got him to come on a holiday to Spain with me many years ago, he still owes me for a pair of doc martins I sold him 45 years ago , my Condolences David , I’m heart broken, Gary and John Harris both gone , condolences David , we lost our own Magnum look a like , rest in peace my old friend, Alan Clarke

When I think of Gary, I think of the mornings waiting on the 7am 25 bus. Gary would appear and you knew then the journey wouldn't be boring despite the early hour. Conversation would flow between the issues of the day and stories of the craic from years before, when you could have a great night out with £20.

He really was a one-off and will be missed around the village and no doubt by his work colleagues also.

RIP Gary, will miss the chats

The great thing about Gary was you were never sure what he was going to come out with next . . . but one thing you could be certain of, it was never boring . . . he was a one off and a pleasure to grow up with in Sarsfield Park, and I always loved our conversations . . . he held strong views but was always respectful and willing to listen and learn . . . his dry wit was one of his sharpest tools but he’ll be best remembered by his many friends as one of the nicest blokes and neighbours you could meet . . . rest in peace Floody.

Condolences David and Family on the sudden passing of Garry. Floody as we knew him. Fond memories of him when we were all growing up in Lucan. May he rest in eternal peace.

I worked with Gary for 27 years and could count on his as one of my best friends in all that time. An erudite man who always stuck to his convictions. So many catchphrases that we continue to quote in his inimitable voice. Could eat 6 cakes or 2 main meals in one sitting, unless he was "on a savoury diet". Always joked that he was yet to do his Junior Cert, that he had a black & white tv and that he was a luddite who wanted to go back to the days of a quill and ink. A unique way of pronouncing 'horrendous', he was always "sick of it", whatever it was. So many stories that I find myself repeating to total strangers. His Mother used to tell him that he always seemed to end up in these situations. Heaven is definitely lucky to have him. A total one of a kind. Nobody comes close.
