Gary (Gar) Shanley

Gary was a valued colleague and a kind, genuine person whose presence made a lasting impact on all who worked with him. His strength, humility, and good nature will be remembered with great respect and fondness.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Gary’s passing. I got to know Gary when he was one of my students in DCU and he became a colleague of mine then when we served together on the board of IIPMM. He was one of the best , witty , sardonic and all times upfront with you something that is rare these days. He will be sorely missed.

My sincere condolences on your loss. Gary and I studied together at DCU and were colleagues at the Institute. I remember my time with Gary with fondness and gratitude and of course his amazing humour.

I first met Gary when Soph and dyl introduced me to him about 3 years ago,it quickly became clear to me that he wasn’t the type of dad to make small talk,I always felt so welcome in his home & he was absolutely hilarious, I was never short of tears around him,he was such a kind soul and im so grateful to have met him,his wonderful kids and wife ❤️💔
