My deepest sympathies to Mark and all the Ashford/Osborne family at this very sad time.
I had the pleasant responsibility of teaching Gaye as an undergraduate student, supervising her Ph.D on the history of Childhood (in St Patrick's College), and guiding her as she brought The Letters of Katherine Conolly, which she co-edited with Mary Lou Legg (Dublin, 2018) through the press. She was bright, exuberant and always engaging as a student, scholar and friend. There is much more than once could add - but suffice to observe that, like Katherine Conolly, she was a lady of discrimination and judgement, but unlike Conolly, she was also fun to be with. She will be greatly missed.
