So sad to hear of the passing of Gene. Wonderful memories of him in Gorey art centre in the 70s. Condolences to all his family and friends.An outstanding painter and creative artist.

I have such fond and deep memories of Gene going back years, what a wonderful artist and a solider for Innovation in a very old fashioned era of the late 1960’s early 70’s, in spite of his injuries he turned everything into a witty pictorial composition. We need many more brave artist like Gene, he will be sorely missed, sincere condolences to his family and his creative friends

Way back when we were in NCAD at the same time, during the student uprising. Gene was full of impish mischief. He grew into a brilliant painter & we met & sparred many times in Dun Laoghaire. He championed the rights of people with disabilities and kept to his principles. Sad to know he's gone.

Gene was a gentleman, he was our number one customer in insomnia junction 14, his kind presence will be so missed! Condolences to his family

I hadn't met him in awhile even though our meetings' were few anyway. Very sad to hear that Gene has gone. When we lose and artist it is always and irreplaceable time. My deepest and sincere condolences to all of his relatives and family.
