Dave, Breege and I were sorry to hear that your Father had died. You are in our thoughts and Prayers.
Jennifer, Geoff, David and John. Our sincere condolences on the passing of your dad, who was a larger than life character, always erudite, to the point, and very good company. I remember a very enjoyable series of early morning hits in Sutton LTC when he was trying to up his game. Your mum and Dad will be remembered as great supporters of the club and who worked tirelessly to improve the social aspect of the club. Can still remember, and be amazed, at his rendering of Bob Dylan classics in the early 1970s. RIP.

I remember Prof Bourke with great fondness. A great educator and a true gentleman. His textbook on Medical statistics was great, even if a little confusing to those not as well versed in complex medical statistics. Sincere sympathies on his passing and he has left a wonderful legacy,

Geoffrey, David, John and Jennifer. Your dad was my fist cousin and as a child I have happy memories of visits to Shercock, and then as a young priest in the 1960's visiting your mum and dad in Offington and meeting all of you. I was in St Fintan's for wedding (Attracta) and funerals (Grandparents and your mum). I was out of Ireland since early 1980s and last met your dad at my brother, Ciarán's funeral 1988.
Your dad was a true gentleman. Mass celebrated for him and all the family this morning.

Qatar?/ Thanks for the geography lessons Dr. Bourke and as everyone has said, a gentleman. RIP.

Fondly remembered as an advocate of the importance of public health’s contribution to the health of society. A gentleman, and a wonderful role model, always with a smile on his face. Sympathies to family members.
I am saddened to hear that Geoffrey has died. We had many conversations in Fitzwilliam and he will be missed. Please accept my deepest sympathy on the family’s sad loss. Alan Ashe
Sincere condolences to the Bourke family on your loss, you are in my thoughts at this difficult time.
Geoffrey was obviously a person of great accomplishment and charm and the latter quality he particularly brought to a different arm of UCD outside of medicine - the lifelong learning programme,or Extra Mural Studies as it was dubbed in earlier times. Weekly, for much of the early 90s, he presented 'Enjoying Music' in the historic Physics Theatre at Earlsfort Terrace an innovation which brought learning and pleasure to the large audiences who had the good fortune to be in attendance. I'm sure many people will recall those occasions wistfully on learning of Geoffrey's demise. As long-retired Director of the programme I offer my deep condolences to the members of his family.

Sincere condolences on the death of Geoffrey. All in public health in Ireland owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to him, as the first Dean of the Faculty of Public Health Medicine, RCPI; we in UCD also greatly appreciate his development of public health medicine & epidemiology at UCD and St Vincent's University Hospital. Dave, really sorry to hear of your dad's passing, my sympathies to you and all your family who will miss him dearly. Breda
As a colleague of the late Geoffrey's, I can only add what others have said, he was a true gentleman and a lovely colleague in St Vincent's.
I'm very sorry to hear of Geoffrey's passing. Permit me to offer my sympathy to all his family. Like so many in Irish Public Health, I owe Geoffrey an immense personal debt. I had the pleasure of working for him for several years in my first academic post in UCD, and I can amply confirm that he was a gentleman, and a great public health leader. He gave me, and many others, invaluable and quiet help, as we started out in our careers. He will be missed by all of us who knew him, but he leaves a great legacy in Irish Public Health.
An outstanding gentleman. He will be greatly missed. He was a great friend and colleague of my late father Michael and a popular visitor to our home. I also had the privilege of having Prof Bourke as a teacher in UCD. He was highly regarded by all. RIP

Jen, Geoff, Dave and John. I recognise this is a very sad time for all of you - the end of an era. Your dad led such a full, busy life until recent years. I always admired how he embraced technology and played his bridge online for a period. I know his last few years were challenging and hope he will rest in peace now reunited with your mum and Marian.
As long time old friends of Geoff from our days in Castleknock College we wish to express our sympathy at his passing . He will be sadly missed especially our longish lunches in Roly's that Geoff really enjoyed ! A real gentleman and a huge loss .
Really shocked to hear of Geoff"s passing . He was a very dear friend going back a long number of years to time at Castleknock College . Over the years our paths varied but came to gether in recent times to our regular lunch meetings in Roly's with George and Leo . He will be very sadly missed and remembered in our thoughts and prayers .
Professor Bourke was so kind to me when I was his student in 1975. I fractured my skull playing football. He visited me in SVH and urged me to attempt the exam in Social Medicine 4 days later. Needless to say, doing the exan in hospital, 2 days post surgery, I barely wrote anything. On the basis of my oral the next week, he passed me.
I came to know him as a colleague and a fellow Fitz member. He was always a true gentleman; kind, pleasant and warm. He will be missed. Ní fheicimid a leithéid arís.
