Sincere condolences to the family and friends of George. Especially to his wife, children, grandchildren, and his sibling Jacinta.

We were schoolmates at Summerhill College in the ‘70’s and even members of the Summerhill College ‘Ceili Band’ that won a ‘Junior All Ireland’ competition (I still have a photo). “Georgie” was a fine thin-whistle player who along with a few others carried the band and covered for us with limited ability.

I actually found about George’s sad passing while reading at Mass last Sunday in Sligo Cathedral…and took a moment to reflect when I saw his name listed as a ‘recent deaths’. 🙏

I remember him to be a jovial character, quick witted and a more than useful footballer player.
