I have happy memories of George when I was a youngster and his holiday visits to Oldtown. .. where he was born and spent his youth. George would great me with a loving smile, firm but gentle handshake while using the Cúpla Focail to add to my confusion ha..ha.
In signing off think it’s worth a mention, George’s grandfather was called George, he had an uncle George and indeed as mentioned his nephew George. .. so without doubt a lot of George’s up there to keep a keen eye on us all.

Was so sad to read George's death notice as I passed Kilkenny by train. George was a pleasure to teach with at Swinford. A great sense of humour and music everywhere.
