To Mrs. MacDonagh and family, such fond memories of growing up in Oranmore and MacDonagh's being the hub of activity on Sunday mornings with long lines for "the papers & sweets' etc. Georgie was so friendly to one and all and a local legend held in high regard. His final act of kindness to science and medicine is remarkable - helping future generations.

George was always so kind to my friends and I when we used to drink in the Thatch as young adults. Such good memories. I remember meeting him on the street once and chatting; I was going for a haircut but had forgotten my wallet. It was a few minutes inconvenience for me but he immediately put his hand in his pocket and told me "drop it back in the letterbox later". It was just how he was. He will be missed.
