Having only just heard the sad news of George’s passing, I would like to send all our love to the family as a whole. I loved coming to Castlecomer with my mother in law, Jane wright, who absolutely adored George and we still regularly use a chair at home that I sat on while she was bidding furiously for various things and then I took over and bought the chair as it was so comfortable! It was the beginning for me of buying at auctions and I still am now!

I was very sad to learn of the death of George. He was a very good man, the most honourable person to do business with, so pleasant and generous with his time and always good advice. It was an honour to know him. My heart goes out to Brigid and all George’s family. May he rest in peace.

So sad to learn of the passing of George. Myself and Mikie had many an interesting and fun conversation with him over the years. My deepest sympathies to you all.

It was with great sadness that we heard of the death of the larger than life character that was George Mealy, forever on for a good laugh and always in good form especially when out socializing.
He had a great career in his life chosen profession and renowned for his vast array of knowledge on the subject and was considered an expert in many aspects of fine art.

I was shocked to hear of George’s passing, I loved going to the auction house in Castlecomer , George was always helpful and so pleasant , it was a treasure trove of antiques and lovely memories.
