I only learned today of George's passing, my family have been connected with the Sherwood family for many years, always a pleasure.
George was a real gentleman, courteous, friendly and most of all someone that loved his work and trade.
May he rest in peace.

Remembering George, a gentleman always very helpful over many many years in his shop, indeed he was an institution, loved the train in his shop window, part of Christmas for practically all the children of the City of Kilkenny, it was for many years the first sign that Christmas and Santa was coming. A kind and generous man, much of which was done very quietly and sincerely. Part of a generation that held strong belief and values. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
