It's me, Paul George (your Nephew). There have been so many great tributes to you over the past few days and those perfect tributes will last for many many years, and rightly so.
Your influence and inspiration inspires everyone that knew you to be a better person.

It was obvious to everyone that you loved your family and family was so important to you. In fact, I remember a time when I recorded some audio, and you corrected me on the pronunciation of an actors name, as their first name was the same as one of your grandchildren. I won't make that error again. Thank you.

You and I both loved Doctor Who, and we were forever talking about episodes over WhatsApp and rating them out of Ten. I can still hear your voice now, and you always spoke about your favourites... William Hartnell and Tom Baker.

Thank you for showing us all how to be a kind, generous, friendly, supportive, calming guide in life.

Thank you for being my Uncle. Your legacy lives on, and you will forever be in our thoughts.

They broke the mould when they made you uncle George, you are the kindest man I know! So thoughtful and selfless. You and auntie Rose are a match made in heaven and she’ll be lost without you! I lost my dad years before I even met Amanda, so I’ve come to feel of George as something of a father to myself in a deeper way than just a father-in-law. It was comforting to have someone who I felt of as filling that role for me and reassured by his being there beyond that of being a dad to my wife. Once I came to fatherhood myself, having George’s quietly reassuring presence there every step gave the sort of safety net that I’m only now aware of how comforting it was now that it’s been ripped away from us.
I’m eternally grateful to George as a grandad, all the more so because my boys never felt hard done by for only having one grandad because George played the role so well.
Despite the physical distance and the sea in between I’ve known deep down that George would be there for us, but only now that he can’t be does it dawn on me how much he meant to me.
Words cannot express the amazing job he did of raising such a wonderful family and specifically entrusting the care and support of his beautiful firstborn daughter, I can only ever hope to be worthy to stand in his shadow to look after her.

The most wonderful big brother I could ever wish for. You are an encyclopedic fountain of knowledge. I will forever treasure our conversations and your life lessons. They say you learn from the best, and even though you are a Grandmaster at Chess I still couldn't get the hang of it. You patiently guided me through a game on our phones during lockdown. Moments like these and a mountain of others will forever remind me of how kind you are.

Your sense of humour never failed to make me laugh, and even though I am sad typing these words you are still making me smile, as you are one special man.

We all know how much you love Rose, your children, and of course your grandchildren as you were always telling us about their lives.

Every time I’ve been to Ireland, I’ve always gone to your house and had a great laugh. You were a very kind and clever man, always quick-witted, and someone I really admired. I would always say, "Uncle George, he knows everything." The discussions between you and my dad would go on for hours, and I loved listening to them.
