So sad to hear of the passing of Gerry. Sincere condolences to his family. A true gentleman. So many great memories of playing football in Mountain View Drive and Beechpark. I'm sure everyone who played appreciated the time he gave, the encouragement offered and effort he made to ensure everyone got a trophy or medal. He will be sadly missed.

Rip Gerry ,you taught us more than how to play football. You taught us how to interact, socialize , respect, how to win , how to lose, amongst other things, most especially, how to be happy , showing all of us that it doesn't take a lot and you don't need a lot.

Sincere condolences to the Hawkins family on the passing of Gerry. Gerry was a lovely gentleman and he was one of the first people that I became friends with when we moved to Cahir over 25 years ago. I remember great chats on a Saturday in either John Quirke's Jewellers or P.J. Moloney's Butchers on Castle Street. He was very welcoming to Cahir and I enjoyed great conversations about all aspects of sport whether it be football, hurling, soccer, horse racing, etc. He was so knowledgeable across all sports and loved following the horse racing! And we will always remember him cycling in his colourful cycling gear along the Mitchelstown / Kilcoran Road out and back from his house near Glengara Wood which became a scene of colour with whatever big sporting moment was coming up, Tipp's 2016 & 2019 All-Irelands were especially well portrayed by Gerry around his house! May Gerry Rest In Peace.

Gerry was a good friend to me when i worked in the ESB in Cahir in the early 70s . Was a vital cog in the Saint Michaels team that won the munster junior cup in 1973 . May his gentle soul Rest in Peace .

Gerry was a unique, colourful character, friend and loyal customer for over 40 years.

He was a great organiser, coach and mentor to an enormous amount of children in the field of soccer.
Gerry was respected and held in the highest esteem in the wider community.

Gerry was up to the challenges as regards to charity cycles, fun runs, Aussie rules football. Gerry played a starring role in the famous “Fair of Cahir” donkey derby in 1988.

Gerry was the holder of a unique FAI Junior Cup medal which he won with St Michael’s FC in 1974.

His legacy will live on for many years.

Ger played with St Michael's during the 1972/73 season which resulted in us winning the Munster Junior Cup. Ger continued to come to matches and support the teams and was a very popular figure. We were good friends in our youth in the woods of Cahir Estate and later in 1962/3 on the football pitch for Cahir Park.
A small man with great drive as a player and a generous heart all his days.

I have great memories for a number of years playing at Lisava every Saturday and for Cahir Park under Gerry’s guidance.
He had time for everybody no matter who you are and always had a kind word to say.
