Very sorry to hear about Ger's passing. He was a good friend at Castleknock College. I always found him to be great fun and kind. I only met him a couple of times after leaving school and he had not changed. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Dear Alma and family, Deepest sympathies on the loss of Gerald. I knew him twice: in the 1980s when I worked at the school in which he was a student. I often said that he was the most pleasant boy in the school. And, again in the 2010s when I worked in Boston. I dined in his restaurant on several occasions and found him as friendly as ever.

I was in school with Gerry and had the pleasure of calling him one of my really close friends. While our lives took us to different parts of the world every few years we would get to catch up. I am deeply saddened at his sudden passing. His energy, good humour and positivity will be really missed. Farewell my friend. Simon

I’m so sorry to hear this. He was a lovely fella and was a couple of years ahead of me in school. Out of the blue a few years ago, he contacted me on Strava through our shared love of cycling, which was such a nice surprise. He had even invited to do a spin together someday in Boston. Very sad. May he rest in peace.

I reconnected with Gerald at a school reunion a few years ago, where we shared a lovely bottle of Gigondas. I had been hoping to make a trip to Boston to sample the delights of the Washington Square Tavern with him, but it was not to be.

I knew Gerry through mountain biking, where he was always the most vibrant addition and biggest smile to any group ride. This past summer, I had a bad accident on a ride, cutting my leg open and not being able to walk out of the woods. Gerry literally carried me out of the woods on his back, and made sure that I was able to receive appropriate medical care. I'm forever grateful and indebted to him, and to him it was the easiest most natural thing in the world.

I lived around the corner from Beaver Brook Bottles and will miss stopping in to say hello. My condolences to everyone who knew and loved him. Ride in Peace Gerry.

Sad, sad news. We were great pals growing up in Enniskerry, riding motorcycles in the fields and having the kind of childhood only seen in movies. My deepest sympathies to Ger’s family.
