His support of the Cork teams was legendary and his colourful outfits will be sadly missed. I bought many a book from his bookshops over the years and found him generous, knowledgeable and erudite. He had a wicked sense of humour coupled with a ready smile, and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

gerald, a total gentleman , an academic, i often bought books from his book shop at shandon street, cork , carbery books. a legend. deepest sympathy to his family and many friends, we won't forget a warrior.
