Deepest sympathy and love to Pat and to Gerry's descendants, from our ever widening branch of the family. Kind and hospitable, Gerry was also the most legendary of the five generations of Kenyon antique dealers. My mother was very fond of him. Amusingly, he twice tried to buy our furniture, and the only time she went abroad was to visit him in Dublin. The wonderful family gathering in Chester was inspired by him and, kind of, gate crashed by us. My father was rightly impressed by the many people who greeted him as they walked together along Dublin's streets. May he rest in peace.

Do antique dealers leave a silent but lasting legacy in the objects that pass through their hands? The other day I was astonished to find myself dining off a very large table that Gerry's father had sold for University Senate meetings in 1949. It is still there. This reminded me movingly of Uncle Bertie and Agnes and their family in Chester.
Sincere sympathy to Pat and the Kenyon family. I was very fond of Gerry, he was my earliest mentor in the “trade”.
To those of us who knew and loved him he left a rich legacy of laughter and great memories.
RIP Gerry!
It is with a deep sense of shock I just heard of this today Sept 16. Shock because in the antique trade Gerry was always a constant with his late colleagues Paul Johnston and Ronnie McDonnell. Gerry and I went back a long time from about 1968. we were mainly booksellers but handled a lot of silver and furniture too, He was a great and gregarious guy always willing to help and with a wicked sense of humour. To Patand MarkI can only express my sympathies. Sean Feehan, 2 Bridge St, Cork.
Gerald was a friend and colleague of generations of our family at a time past when Ireland was a valued source of fine. Antiques where he was a prominent wholesale supplier. My late father Clarence and uncle monty were especially his friends in a very different world. I have very happy memories of my trading at lower osmond quay where lunch would be. Irish pea soup. Large quantities of brown furniture from Gerald found their way through my network to New Orleans and now rest in homes across the southern states……. Gerald lived through wonderful times in the antiques world and we shall not see his like again. We extend our sincere sympathy to all his family, with wonderful memories Thomas Sainsbury, Jonathan and Yvonne. Jonathan Sainsbury UK Ltd
