Gerry had a long, happy and successful life. His passing however is especially sad for his family. While Páid attended the church service he did not get to speak to any of the family after the Mass. He would like to especially personally express his condolences to Tony and Fiona and to Michael and Mary Mehigan - he spoke to Berna in Nutley Road.
Mary could not attend the funeral service as she is at present in the Four Ferns Nursing home in Foxrock.

So sorry to hear of Gerry’s passing. My sympathies to my former colleague Tony, to Berna, Fiona and the wider family. After his retirement as a General Manager in AIB, I had the pleasure, when working with AIB International Consultants in the mid to late 1990s of introducing Gerry as a General Management Advisor to a number of commercial banks in Kiev, Ukraine, as part of an EU Technical Assistance project. The Central and Commercial Bankers in Ukraine were hugely impressed by Gerry. The EU rated his work highly. Gerry was a gentleman to work with, he had extensive and varied banking experience and was highly respected locally and internationally.

It was with great sadness to hear of Gerry passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you Berna and family at this very sad time. It was a privilege and honour to have worked with Gerry (vice chairman/chairman) Stewart Care. He was an inspiration and dedicated friend to all in care.

We were lucky enough to have the pleasure of enjoying a trip over to Stamford Bridge with the O'Mahony's back in 2003 where Gerry and I were equally thrilled to meet our favourite player - Gianfranco Zola - on his final game. Fond memories with two true gentlemen in Gerry and Dermot, which we were blessed to enjoy. Sending our thoughts and prayers to all of the O"Mahony family.

We are truly grateful to him for so generously giving over 30 years of voluntary service to Stewarts Care and Stewarts Foundation.
During this time he served as Committee Member, Director, Vice Chairman and Chairman.
He joined the Committee of Management in April 1981 and became one of the founding directors of the companies in 1998.
He served as Vice Chairman and then Chairman of our boards of directors from November 2006 to December 2011.
