So very sad to hear of Mrs Haughton's passing.

You were such an inspiring teacher, so kind, so stern and strict but also fun and warm and loving. Your love of Gaeilge and of history was both palpable and precious.

I simply cannot imagine not having had you as my teacher for 5 years at St Wolstans.

My daughter's were very lucky to have had the pleasure of having Mrs Haughton as their teacher in St Wolstans and i loved meeting her at the parent teacher meetings. You both always have the gift of communication with your students and I was also lucky to have you Mr Haughton as a teacher in Scoil Íosa in kilcock. My thoughts are with you and all of the family. Heartfelt condolences with you all at this extremely sad time, not only was I lucky enough to have Mrs Haughton teach me I also had you Mr Haughton, cherished memories of two people who went above and beyond, the most amazing people. Mrs Haughton, apart from being a remarkable, encouraging and influential teacher you were kind and caring and went out of your way to help us, I will never ever forget one time you helped me and I often think of that with fond memories. Thank you so much for being the beautiful person that made you so unique. To Daniel I worked with you in the celbridge house many years ago and you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mrs. Haughton was a very fine teacher who inspired in many of us St. Wolstan’s girls a lifelong interest in medieval history and a profound respect for the Irish language. More than all that, she was a wonderful person: kind, humble, fearless and absolutely great fun.

I was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. Sincere condolences to Mr. Haughton and all her loved ones in Celbridge and Falcarragh. Rest in peace Mrs. H and thank you for everything.

So sorry to hear Mrs Haughton has passed away. I had both Mr and Mrs Haughton as my teachers in Scoil Iosa, Kilcock. When the school was first opened. Both great teachers.

It was with such sadness I heard of Mrs Haughton’s passing. Sincere condolences to Mr Haughton and all the family Mrs Haughton had a gift to spread the love of the Irish language, and its history. I still have books with her insightful inspirations written in the margins, which I have read to my grandchildren
Herself and Mr Haughton were the best reasons to attend school (St Wolstans) and want to learn ! Handing up homework and learning poetry if even out ‘sick’. Never wanting to let either down - because they cared. Thank you both

She was a lady and always such fun. She adored her family, she was so very proud whenever she spoke of them.
I was so fond of her and she helped me to love history and irish back in the school days. Wolstans was a lot less bright when she finished teaching there. She always had great insight and helped me to see things from other perspectives.

She was an inspiring teacher and a passionate Gaelgóir, whose love for the Irish language and culture shone through in everything she did. She was vibrant, engaging, and always supportive of her students. I will also remember her as a warm family person, full of life and kindness. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

So sad to hear about Geraldine's passing my condolences to you David, and the rest of the family. Have fond memories of Geraldine flying along the corridors of St Wolstan's her long hair swinging behind her as she was rushing to the next class, the pony show days and stopping to meet for a chat when out and about. May her gentle soul sleep with the angels.

Mrs Haughton taught me Irish in the late 70s early 80s. She stood out with her passion and dedication. What a wonderful teacher!
I’m a teacher and can only wish to be half the teacher she was. She had beautiful long hair and I recall she wore sandals year round! I remember her bringing Daniel into the classroom as a tiny toddler in her arms.
