We have just recently heard of Gerard's passing with great shock and offer you our deepest sympathies.

Gerard was truly a kind and wonderful man. When I came to this country from a foreign land, he warmly offered me a place to call home. I will never forget how, on a freezing winter night, I got locked out, and he drove all the way from Ballinamore to Dublin at midnight to rescue me. His kindness and generosity were extraordinary.

Every year, he sent me a Christmas card without fail. It deeply moves me to know that the card I received this year was the last one he wrote before his passing. This news has left me heartbroken, and I find myself at a loss for words to console his lovely family.

Gerard was a truly remarkable person—kind-hearted, loving, and selfless. May God grant him the highest place in heaven and eternal peace.

My deepest sympathies go out to the Cumiskey family during this difficult time.

Gerard & Cathal will forever fill my memories of weekends and summers in Ballinamore with absolute joy. Along with their late father John, and mammy Shelia the twins would greet everyone so warmly. The shop full of excitement and bright colours. The choice was endless as was their patience as we chose which penny sweets to devour!
You are all in my heart, may Gerard’s beautiful soul rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to the extended Cumiskey family. There was great excitement in Main St. when the twins were born. Then the twin double pram arrived a huge novelty. It would be left outside the shop, the twins sleeping and all of us young ones rocking and wheeling the pram up and down lower Main St.
