My sincere sympathy to all of Ger's family on their sad loss. Unhappily, I hadn't seen Ger for some time. We used to meet at Greenfields when Munsters were playing and chat about the day when Gerry (as we then knew him) was my captain on the under 18-team when we won the O'Donovan Cup in May 1957, and then as my captain on the City Junior team of 1958. He offered to give me a copy of the team photo from 1957 and several times we tried to arrange it, but sadly it never happened. Gerry was also the Cox on the St. Michael's schools' 8 and on the 4, that I rowed on with him. More than 60 years on from those Rugby and Rowing days, I still remember him with kindness, mixed with the sadness that I sha'n't have the chance to chat with him again. Mass will be said for the repose of his soul in the church of San Lorenzo in Palmanova this coming week. Go bhfaigheadh a anam síocháin leis an Tiarna.
