I loved his life as a musician and his Showband legacy.
If Heaven has Irish Showbands- they will be happy to welcome him back in the band with many of his brilliant band mates who have gone before him

While it may be sad now, keep his memory in your heart and his songs in your voice
So glad I got to finally meet him last year and to record 2 of his songs this year

May he rest in peace! I know my dad will be hugging him a warm welcome home

Sincere condolences to Gerry’s family and friends. It was always a pleasure to meet Gerry. I had many a chat with him ,telling tales of the old showband days . In those early days he would do a hard days work before a hard nights work in the dance halls the length and breadth of the country ! There was a good book in Gerry ! I have fond memories as a young lad of hearing him practicing playing his trombone a few doors down from my aunt & uncles house in Castletown Rd.
He was a great musician and never got the recognition he deserved as a songwriter . He wrote some wonderful songs and if there was any justice in the music industry Gerry would’ve been a household name !
May Gerry’s soul rest in well earned eternal peace .
