My deepest sympathy to all the Mulholland family and extended family on Gerry's recent passing. He really was "one of a kind ", beloved of all who knew him. I have many great memories of him...from busking with him in Salthill when I was an absolute novice flute player, to having him at short notice travel down to Ballyvaughan to help out at a children's performance when we were stuck for a musician! Ever a generous spirit, and always providing the spark for ceol agus craic in any setting...ni bheidh a leitheid aris ann. May he ever sing and make music in his final resting place.

My condolences to Breda and all of the Mulhollands. I was shocked to read of Gerry’s passing - he was always part of the Galway streetscape. Two special memories - storm, mid January 1995, sheltering in Tigh Neachtain and mid-storm door from Cross Street bursts open, man in t-shirt takes over the piano and plays a Beatles medley for about a half hour for the ten or so lucky patrons and then suddenly disappears into the fearsome night! Who else? 24 years later, July 2019 a quiet Sunday night in Tigh Neachtain Gerry is playing old favourites such as Galway Bay, turns with that quick gesture “where ya from?” and on hearing launches into “Limerick you’re a lady”. A defining character of Galway and a man of many parts. May he rest in peace.
— John Phelan, Shangort

Cherished memories of a 1960's boarding-school friendship with Gerry in Roscrea - an unforgettable glint in his eye that shone as brightly as his musical talent, brightening up many a dull day.
A gentleman, and the most gentle of men, we are all the richer for having known him, however briefly, and very much the poorer for his passing.

So sad to hear of Gerry's passing. What a beautiful soul he was. Genuine in every sense. My first recollection of Gerry was in the late sixties, him busking out in Salthill promenade, raing funds for Biafra. A passionate, humorous and gifted musician who loved to entertain. I watched him get the patrons of the Quays Bar lift the piano out on to the street and play and sing for hours non stop to the delight of all the revellers.
My deepest sympathies to Eamonn (former Jes school band mate), Breda and Marion and all the Mulhollands and the late John and Billy.
