Fondest childhood memories of Gerry in his shop with Majella and Paschal and his beautiful collie. When Jill and Gerry moved to be our neighbours on Harbour Road we were all delighted. So sad to hear of his passing. Sincerest sympathies to Delphine and Peter and the extended family.

It was with great sadness, Miriam, that I learned of Gerry’s passing.
Gerry was very friendly with my grandfather, James Kelly, and my father, Tomo Kelly. When we moved from Dublin to Banagher in the late 1970s, Gerry was one of the first people I was introduced to during his early-morning milk rounds. He had that big smile, just like in the photo above, and I’m fairly sure the conversation that morning turned to hurling with my grandmother. Gerry was only 16 years young when he played with the Banagher minor team that won three in a row in the late 1940s, and, as we all know, he later captained St Rynagh’s to their first senior championship win which was the start of great hurling success to come and undoubtedly linked to Offaly's break-through in the early 1980s. For our family on the middle road, Gerry was a stalwart of hurling in Banagher and far beyond—but more importantly, he was always a kind and lovely man to meet and chat with.
Peter and Delphine, please accept our sincere condolences, and extend them also to Gerry’s siblings and his extended family.
