I was saddened to read of Gerry's recent death. My sympathies to Grace, Helen, John and the extended family. I attended school with Gerry in Dublin -a time when visually impaired people were separated from family and local community. I vividly recall Gerry enduring painful partings at Limerick Train Station or at the Regional Hospital Limerick having to say farewell to his parents George and Mary. However reading through the condolences it is apparent that Gerry carved out a responsible fulfilling niche for himself after leaving school. May he now reap his heavenly reward and rest in peace.

Sorry for your loss gone but never forgotten

I was very sorry to learn of the passing of Gerry and my sincerest condolences to the Spillane Family.

Deepest sympathies to the extended Spillane families on the very sad and untimely passing of Gerry. Gerard worked with him in Raheen and we got to know him from the redundancy campaign, in which he played a very active roll. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Helen, Jane, John and the extended Spillane family, it is with great saddness I heard of Gerry's passing.
I got to know Gerry 20+years ago when I first went to work in Rehab Logistics Raheen. He made a lasting impression, he got up shook my hand, welcomed me, and then took me around and introduced me to everyone working in his area.
He was a great family man, so proud of you all.
He was a great union man, he with his colleagues fought the good fight on their redundancy campaign with commitment and determination, until they got the outcome they did.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Rest easy Gerry
