Gerard McCaughey

I’m shocked to read about the death of Gerard who I never met in person but I knew a lot about him through his family.
I’ve only realised that his father Brian has passed as well who I met and had broken bread with himself and his lovely wife Teresa on a few occasions. My thoughts and prayers are with his sister Anne, brother Gary, mother Teresa, & of course his beloved wife & children along with his extended family God Bless to all !

So many happy memories together and I will always remember the amazing times we had when we lived together in Redondo Beach with Chris, Donald, Trevor, Carol Anne and the late great David Browne

The last phone call I had from Gerry a few months ago was about sorting out jobs for his former team in Monaghan. Not for him, or with him, or for any benefit to him, but to make sure the people he cared about were going to be OK. That says all you need to know about the man.

Dear Mrs. Mc Caughey, Sophie and Gerry’s children, Anne, Gary and extended family.
You moved from your home in Latlurcan when I was still very young but Gerry and I connected in recent years through LinkedIn and talked a lot about his Dad and about the lovely cars you all had over the years, in particular his very special Renault 5 Gordini.
He was so very proud of his father and the pioneering work he did in the timber-frame industry.
For such a busy man, he was incredibly responsive and friendly and engaging in all of our correspondence, and we had always talked about meeting at some point when we were both in Ireland at the same time. I was so very shocked to hear of his untimely passing and am extremely sad that you are all going through this terrible ordeal. I’m sorry also that Gerry and I never got to meet up for a proper chat. I will always remember him with fondness and respect.
May he rest in peace.

I manage the IWBC Conference and Gerry served on our steering committee for 6 years. He and I became friends and I was devastated to hear the news of his passing. An industry legend and a very kind and compassionate person, Gerry will be missed by all those whose lives he touched, including my own. RIP Gerry.

I sat beside Gerry in the BComm with our little group top left of the main lecture hall. A person of great energy, commitment and plenty of good intentioned mischief with endless stories to put a smile on your face.

So sorry to hear this news, Gerry was very popular in college, great fun and lived life to the full. His college friends in the B.Comm in UCD 1985 will miss him and remember him at our reunions.
