Uncle Gerard was my first introduction to art when I was very small and my daughters were lucky enough to get online lessons from him during lockdown. He made art and creativity accessible to anyone willing to spend the time and spot something beautiful or interesting in the world around them, from landscapes to everyday objects. I am so grateful for the time he spent doing this with us.

As a child, Gerard visited us in Canada and I remember thinking he was as tall as the CN Tower! Knowing him as an adult I saw his big heart and sensitivity as well as his ability to find and share something funny in almost any situation.

Gerard, we will miss you. RIP.
Deepest sympathy to all Gerard’s family. Prayers & thoughts are with you all.

It is with deepest regret that I learned of Gerard's passing. I know him since he was born. My mother always loved the fact that, for years, on New Year's Eve, he would knock at the door to be our "first footer", in the Scottish tradition. Gerard always kept in touch and Angie and himself had many long telephone conversations. If he was in Dublin he would come down and visit. He so loved Donegal. Gerard was our friend and we will miss him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam dílis 🥀
My sincerest condolences to the Pickett family and to all who loved Gerard.
We were life long friends, who had many laughs on the way. We always kept in touch, even after Gerard left us for Donegal. We could spend hours on the phone and we both loved the fact that life hadn’t changed either of us. We were thoroughbreds!
Gerard, I’m delighted that you found such happiness in Donegal and made so many, many friends. I know the communities loved you and took good care of you.
I’ll miss our chats so much, you were a constant throughout my whole life. My world won’t be the same without you, my aul’ pal.

“Good night, sweet prince,/ And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest”
Ah : Gerry, "Me Old Flower "
As I always call you .What You called me remains our secret.
50 year my friend a long time from first meeting in

The promise of "That Flower"
I'll endeavour to forfill.
