Dear Mrs. Burns and Family of Dr. Gerald P. Burns,
I was very touched by the narrative telling about long and eventful life of Dr. Burns. For sure his profession gave hope and saved lifes of many people. Alas, we all have a common enemy: death. In the Bible death is compared with deep sleep and how consolingly is to know that our dead loved ones do not suffer as they "know nothing" as it is said in Ecclesiastes 9:15. You can also find out from the Scriptures that death does not mean the end of it all. Our Almighty God sadly miss all His children and long for the day when He would resurrect them. Job prayed: "If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes. You will call, and I will answer you. You will yearn for the work of your hands" (Job, 14:14, 15). This knowledge gives a real hope to see our dead loved ones once again right here on earth.
