Ger gave me my first part-time job - I was 13/14 around 1998. It was working in the kitchen for Tides (though it always felt like I was 'Ger's guy').
Every Saturday we'd load up the trailer and head out to the dump - Ger refusing to wear a seatbelt(!) and me happy out for the break from the kitchen.
We'd end up all around town picking up supplies for the restaurant, and there was always some random thing we'd get sidetracked on. Ger constantly stopping to chat to someone or other. Great memories of that time - Tides in its heyday, with Ger front of house.
