We are so saddened to hear of the passing of Gerry. We both worked in the Laboratory in Castlebar Hospital in the early 80’s and we always credit our meeting to Gerry. We have always thought of him over the years with great fondness and he holds a special place in our hearts. Our sincere sympathy to you all at this really sad time. He was a friend for over 40 years. We worked closely together between Castlebar hospital and the Regional Galway where I was also a Pathologist, sending each other difficult diagnostic cases for second opinion. I greatly valued his enormous experience.
He had been in the American army and his unit had fought in Vietnam.
He will be greatly missed by friends and colleagues especially for his wit and humour

Gerry and I were in the same class in Lismirrane Bohola National School where his father Dudley was our teacher When we left Gerry went to College to study medicine and I went to London. Many years went by before we met up again and Gerry was still the same and then we regularly met for lunch over the past 10 years. During covid we resorted to emails and Gerry’s were always witty. I feel so sad at the loss of his friendship. May he now Rest in Peace.
