I was so sorry to hear of Gerard’s passing. My sincere condolences to all of his family. He will be missed greatly by you, but also by all the Community. Gerard was one in a million and would help you in any way he could. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend his funeral as I would have liked to do.
He would never be forgotten.

To the Weldon family my sincere condolences on your loss of a Wonderful Man, one of the true Gentlemen I have ever meet in my Life. He was one of the Teachers in the Regional College in Dundalk back in 1979. Great Teacher in Engineering etc… A great loss to humanity.

My deepest condolences to Gerry's treasured family and wide circle of friends.I can't tell you how saddened I was to hear of his passing. For ten years I had the pleasure of meeting him in the Engineering Office and we had the craic. A gentleman full of divilment, sport and laughs. He'd nearly arrive in back-ways in the white lab coat.. and some of the stories he had!! A true loss. Im so very sorry to hear of it. RIP Gerry.

A fitting photo of Gerard in shirtsleeves at work, reflecting on what was done and planning on what was ahead. Only recently rang out of concern of the closure of Rathkenny School. Wonderful example of 'Love your neighbour as yourself'.

A few lines reminded me of Gerard's abiding loyalty to us all:

Gerard, I’ll always be grateful for the year you gave me lifts to DKIT — and especially for the great chats along the way. (And the lift home I had to seek when you had a half day!) You were always looking out for us, and that was just who you were, not only with family but with everyone in your community. To Bernardine, Oisín, Gráinne and all Gerard's family, I was sorry to hear about Gerry (R.I.P.). He was a great colleague to be with in DkIT and I learned a lot from him. His classroom was open in every sense of the word, and passing by, you could hear Gerry say "now lads, this is fierce important ...!" After he retired, driving along Collon-Slane road, you'd see Gerry out walking, there was always time for a yarn. "I nglac Dé igcónaí Gerard."

I'm very sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. Gerry taught me when I was studying engineering in the DKIT (RTC Dundalk) in the late 80's. He was very intelligent man, gifted teacher & very respectful and encouraging to his students. He was a great role model to us all. A true gentleman. Sincere condolences to Gerry's family.
