Heartfelt condolences to Mai and the rest of Gerry’s family. What a lovely man and exceptional neighbor! He always greeted us with a smile and a kind word and made two newcomers to Ireland and Westport feel as if they’d come home. We are blessed to have known him.

Our sincere and deepest sympathies to dear Mai, Sarah, Sean, grandchildren and extended family on the passing of Ged, RIP.  We have many fond and treasured memories of our trips to Westport; the warm welcome and hospitality we always received from Ged and Mai.  Ged was a true gentleman with a kind heart.  Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. To Dear Mai, your children Sarah snd Sean and your beloved grandchildren .We would like to express our heartfelt sympathy on Ged's passing . Like so many others we spent many memorable Summer holidays as guests of your niece Catherine Giblin and her husband Thomas McCarthy and girls, in their holiday home in Murrisk . Ged was an inspiration to all of us and especially to the children when we went to the-beach with picnics , joined you Mai with Ged to eat drink and sing in local hostelries.. However the highlight of every holiday was 'The fishing trip organised by Ged.' We loved it and Ged loved it more . I know that my chikdren now adults and I will treasure memories of these holidays spent in the company of one delightful man . Ged loved to talk and was always engaging .The fresh fish just out of the water that we ate on board on the way back was just another highlight . Thank you Mai Ged and all for those memories . May Ged rest in peace

Many a stories we shared about my driving. I will always remember Gerry for the bright, smiling man he was and the sweet tooth he had. Also our shared love of coffee made the outings more enjoyable.
