Gerry was a very active and effective contributor to bird conservation in Ireland and his hard work on behalf of BirdWatch Ireland helped to make it the organisation it is today. His legacy is assured. Condolences to his family. May he rest in peace

Sorry to hear of the passing of Gerry. Condolences to his family. I knew Gerry through the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in Ireland (CILT) Gerry contributed significantly to the Institute and his sound advice and support was very much appreciated. May he rest in peace.
We are so sorry to hear that Gerry has passed away, he was a true gentleman. Our sincere sympathies go to the Donnelly and extended family and friends, May he Rest in Peace.
My sympathy to the family of Gerry Donnelly on his passing. I knew Gerry through the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (Ireland). We both shared many experiences over many years in serving the Institute. And he made serious contributions to the work of the Institute. But what I really liked was his droll sense of humour. May he rest in peace.

Deepest sympathy to the Donnelly family on the passing of Gerry. Gerry was our former President and a wise counsel and a good friend of the Institute..
Sincerest condolences to you Catherine, and to Chon, Ruaidhri and the extended Donnelly, Dunn, O'Brien and Harrington families on the sad passing of Gerry. I first came in contact with Gerry in the late 90's when we sat together on the national council of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Gerry brought his engineering background to bear solving many of the issues we faced but what I really liked abut Gerry was his common sense and no nonsense approach, coupled with a nice since of humor. He gave me great encouragement and support over the years. May you RIP Gerry.

Truly saddened to read of Gerry’s passing. We met some years ago by happy accident on Church Hill and then again when I was the CSO Enumerator for the area. Many pleasant conversations followed in his garden during Covid, which overlooked our own a few gardens away. A more genial gentleman one could not have met. Sincere condolences to his family.

My sincere sympathies to Catherine and all the family.
Sincere condolences to the Donnelly Family on the passing of Gerry. I remember with gratitude the time he came to my rescue after I had a fall from a ladder, and drove me to the Dr's Surgery only to be told to take me further and he drove me all the way up to Swift Care in Dundrum, waited hours for me and then drove me back home to Wicklow. All this was done when he was in great pain with a severe hip problem.
I appreciated and still do, his kindness to me at that time. May you rest in peace now Gerry and thank you once again for coming to my rescue. Will visit you in Killoughter.

Thinking of Gerry and the extended Donnelly family today. Remembering fondly the many lunches and thought provoking conversations we had when I called to his lovely home to do some jobs for him. May he rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy to Gerry’s family on your sad loss. I will miss our Friday lunches. Rest in peace Gerry.
I fondly remember trips to the beach, and to wonderful gardens, up mountains, and to art galleries with Gerry & Chon. He always set us limits and we were never in any doubt over what they were, but within those limits, there was also great freedom and adventure. He taught us about plants and geology and fanned a developing interest in science.
In later years, he was generous with his wisdom and skill, and I consulted him on more that one occasion. He provided a worldly and fatherly perspective, particularly when my own Dad was no longer able to do so.
I will miss Gerry, the only person to still ring me from a landline!
Happy trails Gerry.

Gerry and I worked together in Arup Consulting Engineers for many years. He was an uncompromising energetic manager, and did not suffer fools gladly. His legacy will rest on the many projects he steered to a successful conclusion, and in the lessons those who worked with him learned from him. May he rest in peace.
Gerry was more than a neighbour to us, he was a great friend and we will miss him. Sincere sympathy to all of Gerry's family. Rest in Peace Gerry. Maeve, Eamonn, Amy and Karl.
