Sincere condolences to all of the Hughes on the sad passing of Gerry. I have great memories of Gerry in primary school in Ballinruane N.S as he was one of the four children in my class. Gerry was always so kind- a lovely sound lad and good craic. He never got too excited about anything.
He was artistic and he loved to draw tractors. He even did our drawing for us and he never complained when we asked him:) I remember we (the two girls)used to remind Mrs. Connolly about the homework whenever she forgot to give it to us, much to the annoyance of Gerry as he had better things to be doing with his time in the evenings!

I just watched the beautiful funeral service. It was so moving. I could feel the sorrow of losing Gerry and the joy of those who knew him. The priest comments were so personal showing the deep relationship that Gerry had with him and the community. I loved the little white van and the lawnmower on the altar! The singing was amazing. You were all so brave getting up and participating in the service and sharing so many memories. Such a huge crowd to honor him.
I am so touched to be a part of this amazing close knit loving family!
