Gerry was always so lovely to us as kids, a kind and gentle man, when he was on the door, you knew you were getting in to the disco. He also had great taste in cars! He was a big part of life on Bushfield Terrace to me, as were all the Quinns. I'm so sorry for your loss. X

I have great memories of organising “Vets Discos” in Bective through Gerry during my college days and of late nights spent in the Back Bar. My abiding memory is of him escorting Jack Charlton (who was no small man himself) who was cradled under his arm from the Lansdowne Road pitch following the 1995 soccer riot.

He was a true gentleman.

My deepest condolences to Dave and all Gerry's family. Gerry was truly a Bective legend and a lovely man, more importantly.
He was on the committee a lifetime by the early 2000s when I came on to it for a stint.
After one meeting, we adjorned to the bar for some refreshment and at one point, I admired his Bective tie, as it was one of the older style ties and much nicer than ones that were on sale at the time.
"You can have mine" he said, as he removed the tie from his neck and gave it to me. "Sher, i've a box of them at home".
I'm proud to say I still have it and I felt honoured to receive it.

My condolences to Bríd and the Quinn family on the death of Gerry. I met you by chance Bríd in Rathgar or Terenure recently at a function. It was great to discover who you were. You did tell me that Gerry was not well. I remember Gerry well from bringing his Austin Cambridge to Michael Maher in Ludford in Ballinteer. He was a great man and very down to earth. We had the same name but the Austin Cambridge distinguished us. It was wonderful to read all the condolences and see how Gerry touched the lives of so many people in a very positive way. He was President of Bective when, as a schoolboy, I played on Tonto’s team.
He was a very kind man who made a huge contribution to rugby in Leinster. I will miss him dearly.
