Dear Claire

I was so saddened to hear that Gilbert has very sadly but peacefully passed away. Words simply cannot express my sorrow for you, Jonathan, Raymond, your granddaughter, sisters and all the family.

I hope that given the passage of time your love and memories of Gilbert will bring you all comfort; that one day in the not-too-distant future, you will be able to celebrate Gilbert’s extraordinary loving and talented life.

For me personally, I will remember Gilbert with great fondness as a wonderful friend, an actor, public speaker, and the best of storytellers. I will miss Gilbert very much, especially when I return to Kilkee in the summer.

I have arranged to have a requiem mass to be offered for the eternal rest of Gilbert and may he be united in heaven with his parents, brothers, sisters and loved ones.

Bless you all, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
