Little did I think that when we last spoke outsite the Train Station in Cobh, and she asked me a favour and I asked for one in return, I would be doing it now. Gill said, if I go before you say something nice and if you go before me I will be honest.

If I could pick one word to describe my friend Gillian, it would have to be honesty. From the first moment I ever met and got to know Gill, which wasn't today nor yesterday, she would not mince her words with me, she would be bluntly honest and for me, that is true friendship.
Telling someone they did well or challenging them to look at themselves by going straight to the point, that is what I consider the honesty of being a friend. Gillian was a Mum, Grandmother, Sister, Daughter and to many, a sincere friend and each one of these roles, she gave it her all to the very end.

Gillan, you have been called to the great oasis in the sky where there is no more pain or suffering. Thank you for being a very honest friend to me. Thank you for our debates, some of which were quite deep but most of all, thank you for being You.

May the gentle and beautiful soul of Gillian Gould rest peacefully in the tender and loving arms of God.
