Gillian Leonard (née O’Reilly)

Dear Aunt Gillian, gifted watercolour painter, world traveller, and spirited friend to many. Your life was filled with colour and creativity; you not only produced beautiful works of art but also encouraged others especially my children, to explore and celebrate the arts, and you gave me my first paint set at age 10!

I admired your great travel stories and escapades which showed your courage and character, travelling to New York by ship as a young nurse and later falling in love with New Zealand. You had a sparkly wit and feisty, fun-loving nature that enlivened so many gatherings.

I will miss our lunches Aunt Gillian xxx
