Just got the shocking news from Aiden about Harry's passing. First met Harry in Rosmuc Connemara in 1978 when I was in Irish college for the summer. Some of his mates from Drimnagh introduced me. He was travelling the country on his own, sleeping in a tent and my first, and indelible, image of Harry was him shooting trout in the river with a bow and arrow! He truly was a remarkable human being, unique, wise, unafraid to live his own life. We were good friends over the next few years, but I moved to Spain in 1984 and we lost touch. Was very pleased to meet up again about 10 years ago in Walkinstown and briefly meet his son Zach. I am shocked to hear of his passing. Deepest condolonces to his family and friends.

Worked alongside Harry in Guinness for several years while he was with Boilermakers and later in the Keg plant a wonderful character.
Thinking of Fergus and all the family at this very sad time.

Very sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of Harry.Very fond memories of him back in the 10th Port sea scouts with many fantastic weekends spent camping in Powerscourt and boating in Dunlaoire with Bob and Eddie.He was always a pure gentleman but full of fun and always up for a bit of a laugh.Sincere condolences to all his family,friends and loved ones.Rest in Peace Harry.

Blown away to hear that you, Harry, have left this mortal coil. But I get a strong memory from our days together in 10th. Port seascouts, probably my strongest, happiest memory of you. It was in Powerscourt when you, Mick and I fell/jumped fully clothed into the river together, to the enormous amusement of all the people - scouts, cubs and tourists also gathered there. I have great memories of Harry and all the Parkinsons from the 70s and 80s when their home in Drimnagh, seemed to have an 'open door' for hordes of friends and groups for music sessions, poker games, community projects and later the game to build the Good Counsel Club House in Drimnagh.

I remember Harry as a passionate free spirit and free thinker with an incredibly diverse love of music, from the Moody Blues to Pink Floyd and many others. He was generous, good craic and had a great sense of humour. He will be missed by many.

May his soul rest in peace. 🙏
